Dr. Khalid Sutton serves as the Interim Superintendent of Schools for the Chester Upland School District. Since joining the district in 2021 as a member of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit Recovery Team, he has provided strategic leadership in a series of key roles, including Chief Academic Officer, Assistant Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and now Interim Superintendent.

With more than 20 years of experience in public education, Dr. Sutton has built a career centered on improving student outcomes, strengthening organizational systems, and developing leaders. Throughout his tenure in Chester Upland, he has helped lead districtwide efforts to enhance academic achievement, expand educational opportunities, improve operational effectiveness, and foster a culture of excellence grounded in high expectations and accountability.

Before joining Chester Upland, Dr. Sutton served in leadership positions with the Phoenixville Area School District, Norristown Area School District, and Mosaica Education(turnaround). His professional experience spans roles as a mathematics teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, principal, curriculum leader, and central office administrator, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of educational leadership from the classroom to the district level.

Dr. Sutton holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from The Ohio State University, two master's degrees from Saint Joseph's University in Secondary Education and Educational Leadership, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University.

As Interim Superintendent, Dr. Sutton is committed to leading through collaboration, transparency, and purposeful action. Guided by the district's commitment to "Excellence Through Action" and the belief that every decision should be made for the betterment of our children, he is dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to a high-quality education and every employee is empowered to contribute to the district's success.
