About the Summer Academic Recovery Academy (SARA)

  • The Summer Academic Recovery Academy (SARA) is open to all high school students (CHS or STEM) to complete courses not passed during the regular academic year. SARA is also open to select 7th and 8th-grade students who did not pass English Language Arts and/or Math during the regular academic year. SARA is available only for core courses and students can register for a maximum of two courses per summer.

SARA is normally conducted for five weeks in the summer, usually beginning the last week of June and ending the last week of July. Students can pre-register by completing the application found here or on their school’s website, and their guidance counselor will complete the process by registering them for a maximum of two classes. Students are expected to complete a minimum of 60 hours of coursework (12 hours per week) to earn their credits. Students are also expected to participate in online sessions with the teacher for two hours per day, either from 8:30 a.m.–10:30 a.m. or 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

While not yet official, the planned dates for the summer of 2021 are June 21st through July 29th, and the application will be available on this page and school websites on May 17, 2021 and will close on June 4, 2021.
