Deborah Mahoney's Classroom

  • Dear Parents and Guardians,

        I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Mrs. Mahoney and I am very excited to be your child’s third grade teacher here at CUSA. I come from Stetser Elementary School where I also taught third grade.  Teaching is an absolute passion of mine.  It’s going to be a year of fun, learning, and adventures.  I can’t wait to see what this year has in store for us! Here is just a little information about myself.

        This is my 24th year in the Chester Upland School District and my 31st year of teaching. I come from a family of teachers, including my Mother and Father, who both at one time taught in Chester and my three children are all teachers. Some of my favorite things to do in my spare time are: watching movies, reading, and spending time with my family. My favorite sports team is the Eagles, and my favorite singer is: Justin Timberlake. 

        My goal is to create a climate that is conducive to your child’s learning. I strongly believe in understanding student interests and making each lesson meaningful in order to promote student engagement. This year students will be learning how to read fluently and independently. I will provide opportunities daily for children to read, examine, and think critically. We will also be exploring new math concepts, writing in different forms, and many other new things!
