Welcome 11th Grade Class of Chester High School!
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:
My name is Donna Scott-Brown, and I am the Assistant Principal for Eleventh grade at Chester High School. I would like to welcome all of the juniors to the Eleventh grade. I am inviting you to our orientation on Zoom which will be held on August 19, 2020 from 10 AM to 11 AM. Many of you will continue in your academies: technology, criminal justice, auto, and culinary, and marketing.
Because our communities have continued to struggle with COVID-19, the Chester Upland School District will have virtual learning up until December of 2020. During the spring semester you received your laptops. You will receive all your course work online with the support of your teachers and technology.
Teachers and staff will support students and parents by working to provide intensive support throughout the year. Academy students will take most of their core courses together in an effort to encourage support each other in their schooling and providing opportunities for project-based learning. In addition, parental support is needed to ensure that students are working to do their best.
The beginning of the first day of school is Tuesday, September 1, 2020. However, our orientation is on August 19, 2020 to give students ample time to prepare for the school year. During the orientation we will review expectations, attendance, assignment submissions, google classroom, and school emails. Your teachers will speak with you on individual class requirements and you will have a chance to ask questions.
Eleventh grade academy students course program will include core courses in English, American History, and Algebra 2, Chemistry, and Spanish 2. The Criminal Justice Academy pathway will include Leadership 200, Aerospace 200, or Introduction to Law Enforcement. The Information Technology Academy Pathway (IT Careers) will include application track for Game Design or Network Security Fundamentals. The programming track may lead to industry certification. Other pathways are honors and CTE. Further information is available on the Chester High School home of the school district’s website.
Congratulations on your successful entrance into the Eleventh grade. Your dedication and hard work has brought you to this point in your life. With continued academic achievements, you can succeed to graduate from Chester High School in 2022.
