Purpose:
For Graduating High School Seniors who will enter post-secondary vocation school or direct employment. Applicant must be a senior in Chester Upland School District who achieved the standards for graduation set by Pennsylvania Department of Education.
Requirements:
- Completed application form postmarked no later than April 1, 2023.
- Personal statement of no more than 500 words addressing your character, personal and professional goals.
- Letter of recommendation from high school teacher or guidance counselor (original on school letterhead.)
- A letter/statement on school letterhead from the guidance counselor confirming you are in fact graduating. (If guidance counselor is fulfilling requirement 3, just a statement will suffice for requirement 4).

Clifford Stevens Scholarship - Due April 15, 2023
Clifford Stevens Scholarship Program 2023
Deadline: April 15th, 2023
This scholarship is in memory of Clifford Stevens (October 1, 1963-December 18, 1980). Clifford was a dear friend to many of his Chester classmates and community friends and his spirit still lives within us. While playing basketball with friends at the local YMCA, he fell, hit his head, and later succumbed to his injuries. He had a warm smile, witty intelligence, a sense of humor, and a playful spirit that left many fond memories.
About the Scholarship:
The Clifford Stevens Scholarship Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Board governance fund. Since its inception in 2020, the Foundation has raised over $40,000 and awarded 13 scholarships. The purpose is to provide financial assistance to African American and minority male students pursuing higher education or a trade from the Chester Upland School District.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must be an African American or other minority male, Chester Upland School District senior.
- Applicant must have a 2.5 GPA or better.
- Applicant must be highly motivated and have demonstrated the capacity to excel. We consider employment, after-school activities, and involvement in the community and school, with an emphasis on contribution as opposed to the number of activities.
- Applicant must have the potential for academic achievement, exhibit quantifiable leadership skills, and demonstrate an actual financial need or otherwise hardship pursuing higher education.
- Scholarships of $500 - $5,000 are awarded.
- The deadline for applications is April 15, 2023.

About the Scholarship:
The Chester Pearls Foundation annually awards financial assistance to Delaware County college-bound high school seniors. The funding is applied towards tuition for the first year of college. Areas that are reviewed by the Committee include but are not limited to the following: Academic Accomplishments, Community Service, Recommendations, Essay, and Personal Interview. Students interested in applying must be graduating seniors who have been accepted into an accredited college or university, vocational or technical school.
Scholarship Requirements:
- A completed application form
- 500 (minimum) word essay, typed double-spaced essay
- An official high school transcript
- Copy of acceptance letter
- One letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor

The McKenzie Family Foundation Scholarship - Due April 28, 2023
The McKenzie Family Foundation Scholarship

Purpose:
Grover and Sara McKenzie Family Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce the expansion of our outreach efforts for educational support and assistance in the form of four $1,000 scholarships awards and four $250 book awards for a total of $5,000. Scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors from Calhoun County High School in St. Matthews, SC and Chester High School in Chester, PA.
The scholarships honor the legacies of Grover McKenzie, Jr. and Sara Elizabeth (Gibbs) McKenzie. Grover graduated from St. Matthews High School, St. Matthews, SC in 1945. Sara graduated from Chester High School, Chester, PA in 1948. They raised their family with a commitment to the ideals of growth through educational achievement and a commitment to community involvement.

Purpose:
To provide a scholarship to one Delaware County resident who is a graduating senior in the Class of 2023 who intends to pursue a post high school course of study at a college, university or other post-secondary educational institution. This scholarship is an opportunity for us to help a member of our community and to provide support to a deserving student.
Rules:
- Winner will be chosen based on the submission of a 500-word essay: “How will this scholarship benefit me.”
- DEADLINE for scholarship applications is 11:59 pm May 1, 2023.
- Refer to criteria below for eligibility requirements.
- Incomplete forms will not be considered.
- Essays must be typed.
- The winner of the “Scott Bonebrake Attorney at Law Scholarship” will be announced May 15, 2023 on our website- noelandbonebrake.com. In addition, the winner will be notified via email.
Eligbility Requirements:
- Applicant must be a resident of Delaware County, PA.
- Applicant must be a graduating high school senior in the year of the award- 2023.
- Applicant must be accepted and planning to attend a college, university, post-secondary educational institution or trade school.

About the Scholarship:
The Founders’ Centennial Scholarship offers financial assistance to a female high school student to cover college/university level educational costs up to, and not to exceed, $125,000. The awardee must demonstrate a moderate to significant need for financial assistance in attaining her educational goals.
Award Intent
In honor of the five founding members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, the Centennial International President of Zeta Phi Beta will award a $125,000 scholarship each year to a new recipient, for five consecutive years beginning the sorority’s Centennial Anniversary year of 2020. The 2023 scholarship is named the Triumphant Founder Viola Tyler Goings Centennial Scholarship.
The 2023 scholarship award will be made to one deserving female high school senior to cover educational cost up to and not to exceed $125,000 total. The award is targeted to honor a female high school senior who exhibits personal integrity and excellence through academic achievement and community involvement, and the awardee must demonstrate a moderate to significant need for financial assistance in attaining her higher educational goals. The recipient may complete her undergraduate studies in the field of her choice at an accredited four-year college or university of her choice.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated and the Zeta National Educational Foundation, Inc. will conduct an international search to find and award the most worthy recipient.
Scholarship Requirements:
- Must be a female high school senior who qualifies for free or reduced fare lunch based upon U.S. Federal guidelines.
- Must be graduating in May or June of the award year (2023) and enrolling as a full-time student at an accredited college or university in the fall of the same year.
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Must demonstrate a moderate to significant financial need.
- Must demonstrate a commitment to community service and involvement.

About the Scholarship:
- Be a female or male who plans to enter college for training in the Field of Education
- Complete the Undergraduate Scholarship Application
- Show evidence of need by declaring family size and proof of family income (W2 or 1040)
- Be a graduating senior at the time the application is submitted
- Submit an official high school transcript with the Registrar's seal
- Submit official SAT/ACT scores
- Attach a photograph (headshot) to the application (failure to send a photo will disqualify the application)
- Apply through a Local Chapter Scholarship Chairperson in accordance with prescribed deadlines
- Any fraudulent activity will forfeit the scholarship
- No emailed documents are accepted
The Scholarship Receipients:
- Will be the highest-scoring female and male in each of five regions
- Must select and attend accredited colleges or universities
- Will receive the $6,000 award in increments of $1,000 per school year in years one and two, then $2,000 in years three and four, provided the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 2.5 while pursuing a degree in the field of education
- Scholarship recipients must complete an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) W-9 form. Any recipient who does not adhere to the rules, regulations, and eligibility requirements will be disqualified.

Purpose:
The Pennsylvania Society's Benjamin Franklin Scholar Award invites Pennsylvania public school juniors to submit an original essay discussing the modern-day relevance of a Benjamin Franklin quote.
The 2023 quote is:

Scholarship Criteria:
- Must be in their junior year at a Pennsylvania public high school

- Consult Turnitin rubric-Argument tab to gain familiarity with judging criteria (Judges will use this exact rubric to grade each essay)
- Must consult and cite credible source material and have a works cited page with a minimum of three sources to be considered for judging
- Include the page number and title of the essay in the footer of each page

NAACP Chester Branch Scholarship - Due February 28, 2023
NAACP Chester Branch Scholarship
Deadline: February 28th, 2023
Purpose:
The Chester Branch NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) has a longstanding tradition of recognizing students who have demonstrated academic achievement. Students selected will be awarded scholarship funds to assist them with expenses associated with college, technical or trade schools.
NAACP Chester Branch student scholarship recipients will be selected by the NAACP Chester Branch Scholarship Committee after review of application materials. Academic and guidance counselor references, academic standing, commitment to the academic program, and other specified criteria will be considered. Parameters for selection include commitment to academic studies, merit, character, citizenship, leadership, community/religious/school involvement and volunteer activities.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Students must be a resident of the City of Chester or reside in an area covered by the Chester-Upland School District. Students who are home-schooled are encouraged to apply.
- Students must have a minimum of a 2.8 cumulative overall grade point average at their high school at time of application.
- Students must meet acceptable standards regarding absenteeism and tardiness (a combined total of no more than 18 days absent and/or tardy from school).
- Students must submit an official high school transcript, attendance records for all four years, a minimum 300 word essay and two references who are not related to the applicant (e.g., guidance counselors, teachers, employers, etc.) that can speak to such qualities as character, academics, community service and leadership.
- Students must submit an application and all required information by the deadline of Tuesday, February 28, 2023 to naacpscholarship.com. Incomplete applications (without an official transcript, attendance records for four years, essay, two reference letters) and applications received after February 28, 2023, will not be accepted.
