CHESTER, PA- May 1, 2023 - The Chester Upland School District would like to express our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the two students who tragically lost their lives in an accident involving an AMTRAK train Saturday evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with their family and friends during this difficult time.

Although the students did not attend a school in our district, we recognize that this is a profound loss for the community. We stand with our neighbors and friends as we mourn the loss of these young lives.

Grief counselors will be available for our students and staff this week, to provide support and assistance to anyone in need. We encourage parents and caregivers to speak with their children about this incident and to reach out to us if there are any concerns or needs that we can assist with.

We extend our sincere thanks to all of the emergency responders who assisted with the response effort.

Again, our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of these young students. We will do everything in our power to support our community during this difficult time.
