Students in the Automotive Technology program at Chester High School will learn the skills and have the ability to work on automotive problems that occur in everyday life. Students will learn the basics to the more complex concepts of engine diagnostics. Upon completion of the program, students will take the NOCTI Proficiency Exam which makes them eligible to take the ASE after one year of employment in the industry. Students graduating from the program are prepared to enter the workforce as entry-level service technicians for car dealerships or other vehicle service industries.
Students in the program are also encouraged to join Skills USA, a Career and Technical Student Organization, which enhances student performance, understanding and networking in a professional setting. Students will compete in competitive events that replicate the skills and concepts learned in the classroom environment. Students can increase their ability to be challenged in their field and receive scholarships towards their future learning by achieving excellence through competitive events. Students can also learn leadership skills through attendance at conference workshops.
