Sports and Entertainment Marketing

    The Chester High School Sports and Entertainment Marketing program introduces students in their first year to the entry-level concepts of business, marketing, promotion, and profitability.  Students in their second year advance these concepts and begin to work with project-based learning to develop further understanding of marketing, sales, ethics, branding, and the sports and entertainment industry.  Students continue in their third year to apply all these concepts further into understanding the ideas of franchising, athlete promotion, team promotion, and the connection these concepts provide to real-world global expansion of sports.

    College Advanced Credits

    Upon successful completion of this program of study, through the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Students Occupationally and Academically Ready (SOAR) initiative, qualified students can receive college credit for their course work in a technical education program if they achieve a 2.5 GPA in that core CTE course.  Some of the participating institutions are Montgomery County Community College, Clarion University of Pennsylvania, and Lackawanna College

    Career and Technical Student Organization

    Students enrolled in the marketing program are also required to be members of DECA.  This Career and Technical Student Organization provides students the opportunity to apply their learning of concepts and soft skills in a competitive event format.  Students can compete on an individual, team, or chapter basis. Students in DECA grow in their leadership and networking skills through their travels to conferences, district, state, and international competitions.
